Starting the wizard
In the ScreenScraper Studion main window
- Check the radio button for Extract text from a region on the screen as shown in the picture below and
- Click Create task button.
Selecting a region on the screen
Selecting a region on the screen is similar with selecting text in an editor. See the picture below.
Press the Select Region button to enter region selection mode.
- Move the mouse cursor to the upper left corner of the desired region on the screen.
- Click the mouse button and keep it pressed.
- Drag the mouse to select the region.
As you can see in the dialog below, there are shown the coordinates on the screen of the selected text and the Window ID. Continue by clicking the Choose a screen scraping method button.
Screen scraping method
Next you'll see the dialog below inviting you to choose a screen scraping method:
- Native - works only with visible text on the screen, fastest method and 100% accurate.
- OCR - good for images/scanned docs, requires Microsoft Office Document Imaging component
- FullText - works well for scrolled or invisible text.
After choosing the screen scraping method click Extract text button.
